Police are investigating grab burglary

At a jewelry store in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Police are investigating a smash and grab burglary. Police said Forbes Jewelry in the 5800 block of Forbes Avenue, near Shady Avenue, was broken into around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The burglar took multiple pieces of jewelry and then ran off, Police said. "I just happened to see that one necklace with diamonds was gone," said owner Ella Livshin.

On the sidewalk outside the store, Investigators found some jewelry scattered. "A couple pieces were actually laying on the walkway because people tried to run because police probably came fast enough to scare them," said Livshin.

Livshin, who has had the store for 26 years, estimated losses of about $5,000. The store's glass front door was also shattered, but has already been replaced.
