Reese Witherspoon spotted wearing the Chloe Paraty bag

An animal rights group has pressured Reese Witherspoon into giving up a $4000 python skin bag.

The actress was accused of contributing to the 'suffering' of snakes by PETA, after she was spotted wearing the Chloe Paraty bag in LA earlier this week, and has since decided to surrender the fashion item.

But it wasn't just PETA's criticism that got Reese thinking. The organisation also sent her a video exposing the exotic skins industry hosted by her Walk The Line co-star Joaquin Phoenix, which describes how snakes are 'skinned alive and…suffer slow, painful deaths.'

PETA's Senior Vice President, Lisa Lange, said: 'We've long known Reese to be a kind person, so we're pleased —and not surprised —that she is hanging up her python bag for good.'

The organisation called Reese's move a 'compassionate decision' and sent her flowers to say thank you.

She wears CHLOE CL 2193 C01 and brown python skin bag.
