John Hardy Jewelry is a handmade Jewelry and home accessories company that was founded in 1989 by Canadian artist John Hardy after visiting the beautiful Indonesian island of Bali in the 1970s. John fell in love with the craftsmanship of the artists of the island. He learned some of their techniques and started incorporating them into his own work.
In 1999 French Designer Guy Bedarida joined the company as Head Designer. Bedarida worked as a Designer at Boucheron and Van Cleef and Arpels previously where he was in charge of creating one of kind Jewelry for celebrities, royalty and private collectors.
Bedarida brought a more contemporary technique and designs to the company as well as his experience and craftsmanship. In 2007 current CEO Damian Dernoncourt purchase the company from John Hardy.
Damian has made the company a "Sustainable Luxury Brand" by creating timeless pieces, becoming a green company and by having corporate social responsibility. The jewelry is all handmade in the company's compound in Bali where they feed their workers organic food every day, help them make a living by offering well-paid jobs, teaching them a skill and contribute to the islands environment with projects such as the "The Bamboo Project" in which the company plants thousands of Bamboo trees to help preserve the environment.
The company also team up with Supermodel and Actress Angela Lindvall to be the face of the line, a match made in heaven because Angela is an ardent environmentalist herself.
