Jackie Kennedy's Leopard Bangle

Jackie Kennedy's Leopard Bangle

Jackie Kennedy's Leopard bangle is a timeless piece that fits perfectly into any fahionista of today's wardrobe! The leopard bangles were given to Jackie by the Emperor of Ethiopia during his visit to the White House in the 1960's. Jackie & JFK were excited to meet the Emperor, but unfortunately Jackie had a scheduling conflict which left her with just enough time to be able to meet him. Like many of the visitors to the White House, the Emperor brought a very special gift for Mrs. Kennedy. The Emperor had a coat made from two leopards he had caught personally on a hunting trip while in Ethiopia. The Emperor was unsure as to whether Jackie would like the coat, as he knew it might prove to be too exotic for the First Lady, so as a precautionary measure he left two surprises in the coat's pocket. It just so happened that Jackie loved the coat and wore it when she left for her trip that same day. A photo was published the next day and so many women wanted leopard coats, leading Jackie to later express regret at having started a craze that endangered the lives of so many animals. Nevertheless, in the rush to prepare for her trip, Jackie did not find the surprises in her pockets until she had boarded the plane. She was truly shocked when she found two leopard pattern bangles. And while she rarely wore the leopard coat, she wore the two stunning bangles the rest of her life!
